Organic Ag Farm Visit for Year 2 Students

Palmerston Campus Year 2 students visited an Organic Ag farm at Middle Point. In their ‘How We Organise Ourselves’ unit, the students have been inquiring into the process products go through.

They learnt about farming and agriculture, looked at products and their origins, and investigated the sustainability of some products such as Palm Oil.

Students also observed organic agriculture, learnt about preparing the soil prior to planting and discovered that farms grow different crops at different times of year to suit the climate.

A big thank you to Farmer Bluey for giving up his time and sharing his knowledge. Thank you also to NT Farmers for their assistance organising this amazing learning opportunity for our students. Excursions like this allow our students to observe the real life applications of their learning.
