College Students Recognised at NT Training Awards

On Saturday 2 September, Good Shepherd Lutheran College attended the to support our two Year 12 student nominees, Megan McIntyre and Declan Keelan.

Both students were finalists in the ‘VET in Schools Student of the Year’ category. This award is presented to a school student who has proven their commitment to being the best they can be in their Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools program.

Megan, who studied Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, developed a keen interest in early childhood care and schooling after babysitting her younger sister and cousins. She did a one-week work placement at Sattler Christian College Early Learning Centre for her Personal Learning Plan (PLP) in Year 10, will now complete a work placement at Berry Springs Primary School while she continues her studies in School-based Education Support.

Declan, who studied Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, would love a career in Parks and Wildlife. On completion of his current course Declan plans to learn about land care such as treating weeds, creating a safe farming space, recognising native flora and fauna and safely using and maintaining machinery to effectively manage the land.

Congratulations to Megan, who was awarded Runner Up!

The College is incredibly proud of both Megan and Declan for the commitment and dedication they have demonstrated to their chosen pathways. We can’t wait to see where your careers take you.
